Preliminary Schedule

  • 9/1 Installation and survey until ~18:00
  • 9/1 18:00 - 9/2 04:00 -- Straight-track data (10 hours, Tuesday night)
  • 9/2 04:00 - 9/2 12:00 -- Ramp solenoid magnet (8 hours, Wednesday day)
  • 9/2 12:00 - 9/3 06:00 -- Full field data: tracking mode (18 hours, Wednesday night)
  • 9/3 06:00 - 9/3 10:00 -- Full field data: TRD mode (4 hours, Thursday day)
  • 9/3 De-installation -- Technical crew de-install in the afternoon?

Notes:

  • Assumes ~50% beam availability as normal. Schedule could be delayed if beam is down for prolonged period
  • Could do activities which don't require solenoid on Wednesday (9/2) morning while magnet is ramping

Calibration datasets

Summary page for Summer 2020 TRD/GEM Commissioning lists the relevant run ranges for the datasets collected below

Straight-track data

  • For alignment of the GEM/TRD we need to acquire production samples with the magnetic field off
  • Straight-track sample at the beam-center TRD positions with the full GEM readout for tracking and alignment studies
    • Standard GlueX no-field measurements with 50nA on 10^-4 amorphous radiator
    • 2 hours: focused FCAL trigger in GEM location to verify TRD/GEM signals (raw mode)
    • 8 hours: standard FCAL-BCAL trigger for alignment data

Full-field data: tracking mode

  • With the aligned GEM/TRD collect data for track extrapolation validation and multi-plane tracking directly upstream of DIRC
  • Full solenoid field sample at the beam-center TRD positions with the full GEM readout for tracking and alignment studies
    • Standard GlueX running conditions at 150nA, 250 nA and 350nA
    • 2 hours: focused FCAL trigger in GEM location to verify TRD/GEM signals (raw mode)
    • 8 hours: standard FCAL-BCAL trigger at 150 nA (low energy TAGH turned on)
    • 4 hours: standard FCAL-BCAL trigger at 250 nA (low energy TAGH turned off)
    • 4 hours: standard FCAL-BCAL trigger at 350 nA (low energy TAGH turned off)

Full-field data: TRD mode

  • For TRD pion rejection performance acquire production samples with the TRD in "cluster counting" mode with all the GEM packages read out.
  • Operate TRDs with two different gasses using raw mode (Lubomir and Sergey required)
    • 4 hours: standard FCAL-BCAL trigger
