Minutes

Attendees: Elliott W, Beni Z, Simon T, Mark I, Dave D, Elton S, Vardan G, Alex S.

Note: Many people were out of town or on vacation, so some topics were postponed until next meeting. Also the JLab Luau started at 3pm so we had to end before then!

Collaboration Meeting Agenda

• Elton noted that it is near impossible for a talk to last 15 minutes or less at a collaboration meeting. Elliott will rework the schedule.

Solenoid Coil Test

• Stresses in one of the windings in coil 2 are too high, may need internal reinforcement.
• PLC components are all here. Mark W has taken what he needs, the rest is in F117.
• Mark S about 70% done ordering remaining instrumentation.
• Mark W will set up in Steve Lassiter's lab in the ARC building.
• Elton suggested it is time to put the coil test schedule in FastTrack.

Serializing/deserializing Root Objects

• Elliott showed how to serialize a Root object into a buffer, and how to deserialize from a buffer into a real object.
• Link above shows example code and programs. Located in "HOW-TO" section of Online wiki page.

cMsg Browser

Vardan demonstrated a general purpose graphical cMsg browser.

• cMsg is foundation of CODA run control. Will be used extensively in Hall D.
• First version of browser, bug reports and comments are welcome.
• Has special mode to display CODA daLogMsg() messages.
• CodaObject library now instrumented with daLogMsg() calls. This may be a reason for test setups to upgrade to the latest codaObject library.
• GUI can plot timeline of individual message values, or display array as histogram.
• Package distributed via CODA ftp site (ftp.jlab.org/pub/coda/cMb).

Electronics

• Beni found lots of noise coming out of CAEN HV crates in the FDC test setup, taking steps to isolate them.
• FADC250 allocated for FSU. Do they really need it, or is it a diversion?
