Agenda

Dear All,

This is a reminder about the Physics Working Group meeting Monday at 11am.

There will be at least three things on the agenda. Please feel free to add more!

1. Planning for the INT workshop in November (Curtis, Adam, Jo).

2. Status of simulations of exotic meson channels (Ryan). ExoticsSimulations.pdf

3. Planning for future Physics Working Group meetings.

Regarding the third item, I think it would be a good idea for us to start thinking about how we can divide the GlueX physics interests into subgroups, e.g., hybrid mesons, baryons, scattering, primakoff, etc. If we could identify the main subgroups and assign a contact person to each, then we could start systematically laying out what types of simulations should be done for each. In the end this would perhaps result in a collection of different types of physics analyses each with a collection of key plots. Then at conferences, for example, we could say GlueX aims to study such and such and this is what we expect to see. This already exists to some extent with exotic mesons, but not so much for say baryons or primakoff scattering, etc. Anyway, let's talk about the feasibility and desire for this at the Monday meeting and then perhaps brainstorm until the following meeting and try to get something in place...

Ryan

Minutes

Hi All,

Here are some notes from Monday's Physics Working Group meeting:

(1) Organization of INT Meeting: emails have been sent to a list of people encouraging their participation.

(2) Status of Exotic Meson Simulations: Ryan gave a summary of the evolution of GlueX exotic meson simulations from 1999 to 2009 (GlueX-doc-1232-v1). It's clear many of these studies need to be updated. With new parametric MC now available, we are well-prepared for more realistic simulations -- first of acceptance, then more complete PWA studies. David will give an overview of the parametric MC at the April 13 meeting. Curtis has posted notes on "Software Analysis Tools" to the Physics_Analysis section of the GlueX wiki. Updating these simulations would be a very good summer project. The November INT meeting would be a good deadline for having some new results.

(3) Physics Subgroups: We should start thinking about productive ways to break up GlueX physics into subgroups, identifying experts for each subgroup, and identifying types of simulations, etc., that would be beneficial for each.
