Agenda

  • Preparation of parts for ECAL modules -- Sasha
    • Crystals:
      - Received 70 crystals from SICCAS. Visual inspection: 4 dim crystals, 8 with many chips (consider to send them back to SICCAS) [1][2]
      - Plan to send back about 10 crystals
    • Received 1100 short signal cables [3]
    • Procurement parts for the LMS:
      - Waiting for 7,600 ft of optical fibers. PR department prepared PO but forgot to send it out
  • Module fabrication -- Sasha
    • All modules have been fabricated, checked, and inventorized (about 1610 modules in total)
  • Ongoing projects -- Sasha, all
    • Visual inspections of fabricated modules [4] - done
    • All crystals moved to Hall D[5] [6][7] - done
    • Tested, labeled, and bundled all 100 (+ 2 spares) [8] signal cables connected from the flash ADC to the patch panel [9] - done
    • Test and label 1100 short signal cables - ongoing
    • Tested fabricated modules using LMS [10] - done (need to update the wiki page)
    • Cutting optical fibers and gluing plastic caps [11], waiting for 7600 ft of optical fibers
    • Report from students
    • Refurbished (remove soldering bumps and rewrap) 42 modules. One more layer of the detector will be installed today.
    • Need to wrap and fabricate about 30 modules using newly received crystals (will replace some already existing modules with low-quality crystals). Plan to finish with this during next week.
  • Testing of PMT dividers -- Sasha / Vlad
    • -Tested 6 dividers from the first batch. Asked to produce all remaining dividers. Expect to receive some of them in a couple of weeks
  • Proceedures
  • Installation of the FCAL2 detector & integration to GlueX -- Sasha / Arshak / Vlad / Hakob
  • Light monitoring system -- Arshak

Minutes

Attendees: Sasha, Arshak, Liping, Phil, Zisis, Igal, Jon, Olga, Bill, Jane, S.T.

  • Students subdivided new batch of SICCAS crystals into "good, bad, maybe good enough?" categories
    • Selected ~30 good quality SICCAS crystals from last batch to replace low quality NPS crystals
  • Fixed some issues (bumps due to soldering, loose tedlar) with fabricated PWO modules
    • Refurbished 42 modules
  • Final tests of first-article PMT dividers have been completed, green light given for production
  • Have installed 38/40 ECAL layers, some modules needed shims (used green tape)
  • Malte found that many installed LG modules had broken PMTs
    • Observed that some divider boxes for LG modules are tilted: maybe squeezing/pushing caused glass to crack?
    • Adding extra inspection during installation, maybe need to realign boxes w.r.t. rest of LG module assembly
  • Money to support TOF veto prototype in principle available
    • Also discussed fiber profiler (for measuring shower profile) + using spare crystals to make 5x5 array
