Meeting time and location:

Agenda

  • Preparation for the ECAL installation [1]
  • Preparation of parts for FCAL2 modules -- Sasha
    • Crystals:
Received 40 crystals from CRYTUR [2], 10 have been recently sent out. Remaining 45 crystals.
      Wrapped crystals: 10
      Available for wrapping: 10 SICCAS + 5 CRYTUR = 15
    • George (DSG group) finished with preshaping.
    • More than 400 long signal cables received, can start checking, bundling, labeling (receive labeling machine in a couple of weeks)
    • Procurement parts for the LMS
16,400 ft of optical fibers delivered to the lab. 7,600 will be delivered in September.
Receive first batch of donats for the LMS, evrth. looks Ok. Will receive all of them in a couple of weeks (start working on the LMS)
  • Module fabrication -- Sasha
    • Fabricated modules: Total 1542
9 modules fabricated during last week
      Available for fabrication: 26
42 modules fabricated using 'low quality' crystals for the stacking mockup and 'crunch' tests.
    • Report from students
  • Visual inspections of fabricated modules [3]
    • 160 modules checked [4]
  • Testing of PMT dividers -- Sasha / Vlad / Arshak
    • FCAL2 modules with dividers installed on the CCAL [5]
    • Met with Vlad P. on Tuesday. Fine tuned the divider circuit. Checking/tuning an amplifier; Chris S. ordered some OPS.
  • Installation of the FCAL2 detector & integration to GlueX -- Sasha / Arshak
Discussion of the FCAL2 installation procedures [7]

Minutes

Attendees: Bill, Igal, Jane, Sasha, Igor, Arshak, Zisis, Jon, Eugene, Susan, S.T.

  • 40 new Crytur crystals arrived
  • 15 crystals ready for wrapping
  • Cable labeling machine arrived
  • Most fibers for LMS arrived
    • Need optimize length
    • Need to glue fibers into donuts
    • Remaining fibers to arrive in September?
  • Total number of fabricated modules = 1542
    • 26 crystals ready for fabrication
    • Students doing module inspection -- some issues found (tedlar, PMT alignment, brazing quality,..)
    • Sticky kapton tape added to mitigate cold soldering on brazing joint
  • Preparing for mock-up to study module stacking in ISB
  • PMT divider design finalized (change op-amp and part of resistor chain)
    • No longer saturates at 1.6 V -- can use with 2V range of fADC
    • Can run at nominal HV
    • Base fabrication lead time ~4 weeks
  • All LG blocks have been removed from existing FCAL frame -- some LG blocks need refurbishment
  • Arshak setting up scanner for LMS fibers based on Labview program
  • Arshak borrowed fiber polisher from Hall B
