Agenda

  • Preparation of parts for FCAL2 modules -- Sasha
    • Available crystals:
      1450 (modules)
      32 (ready for fabrication)
40 (installed on CCAL) available on March 20
(some CCAL crystals from the inner part will not be used for the FCAL2)
95 expect to receive from CRYTUR in May [1]
      Total 1617
    • Wrapped crystals: 32 (Mindy)
      • George (DSG group) finished with disassembling CCAL modules and removing LMS caps
(work on preshaping of ESR reflectors for CRYTUR)
      • Mindy (DSG group) solder wires to sockets (while waiting for crystals)
      • Parts. 60 remaining PMT housings and cylinders have been ordered by Tim (should be ready for fabrication in about 2 months)
  • Module fabrication -- Sasha
    • Fabricated modules: Total 1450 (15 modules fabricated since last week)
      Currently available for fabrication: 32
  • Testing of PMT dividers -- Sasha / Arshak
    • FCAL2 modules with dividers installed on the CCAL [2]
  • Installation of the FCAL2 detector -- Sasha / Arshak
  • Light Monitoring System -- Arshak
  • Simulations/Analysis

Minutes

Attendees: Sasha,Bill,Igal,Olga,Susan,Liping,Jane,Arshak,Axel,S.T.

  • Total number of fabricated modules = 1450
    • 32 wrapped, ready to be assembled into FCAL-2 modules
    • After March 20 (end of run) can convert 20 COMCAL modules into FCAL-2 modules
    • 95 Crytur crystals expected late April/early May -- plan to get students involved with module fabrication
  • Detector support group working on shaping ESR in preparation for new Crytur modules
  • 60 PMT housings still missing -- these have been reordered
    • 2 month lead time (could be 4 months)
  • New PMT dividers have been installed in 5x5 COMCAL array
    • Installed in hall D -- study rates using beam
    • Plan to use for TAC (flux normalization) run
    • Plan to replace unshielded ribbon cables and connectors for LV distribution with locking connectors and shielded ribbon cables
  • More (first article) dividers have been ordered, due next week
  • First look at response of 5x5 array of FCAL-2 modules
    • Inner module nearest beam saw 2 MHz rate (not shielded by tungsten absorber, planned for actual insert)
    • Expect ~1 MHz rate in inner modules for FCAL-2 insert
  • Schedule for students during summer coming into focus
  • Sasha discussed with Hovanes regarding controls
  • Arshak to give final report on LMS developments next week
  • Igal presented studies of the impact of including proposed GEMTRD at exit of solenoid on the η→π0γγ channel
    • This is in response to a proposed 10-day experiment to study GEMTRD for e/π separation relevant for J/Ψ studies
    • This prompted a lively discussion about the impact on the JEF program
    • Inclusion of additional material likely to cause signal loss and increased background
    • Would prefer to not have this 10-day proposal run concurrently with JEF/GlueX
  • Igal also showed distributions of separations between clusters for η→3π0
    • Most clusters are separated by distances far above where merging becomes an issue, but the BR is so much larger than the rare decay that cluster merging still needs attention
