  • Preparation of parts for ECAL modules -- Sasha
    • Crystals:
      - Received 70 crystals from SICCAS. 66 have been pre-selected by Jane's group
      - sent additional 4 (supposed to be from the previous batch). Quality of those crystals is very poor [1][2]
    • Received 960 short signal cables [3]
    • Procurement parts for the LMS:
      - Waiting for 7,600 ft of optical fibers (August/September)
  • Module fabrication -- Sasha
    • All modules have been fabricated, checked, and inventorized (about 1610 modules in total)
  • Ongoing projects -- Sasha, all
    • Visual inspections of fabricated modules [4] - done
    • Prepare to move modules into Hall D [5] [6][7], wrap modules with sort towels. Need to move about 100 modules to the Hall.
    • Tested, labeled, and bundled all 100 (+ 2 spares) [8] signal cables connected from the flash ADC to the patch panel [9] - done
    • Test and label 960 short signal cables - ongoing
    • Tested fabricated modules using LMS [10] - done (need to update the wiki page)
    • Cutting optical fibers and gluing plastic caps [11], waiting for 7600 ft of optical fibers
    • Work on refurbishing LG modules. About 60 modules have to be checked / fixed (rejected during installation)
    • Report from students
  • Testing of PMT dividers -- Sasha / Vlad
    • Received 10 dividers (first article) ! , going to test them during this week (Chris)

  • No update on arrival of remaining LMS fibers
  • Visual inspection of fabricated modules done, in process of moving modules to Hall D
  • All modules tested using LMS and dark box, found 2 bad PMTs (have been replaced)
  • Stacking continues in hall: now 1286 lead glass + 996 lead tungstate modules have been installed
    • Had to replace some modules due to surface imperfections
    • Survey group checked flatness/slope at current stage of construction, no major issues observed
  • Sasha communicated with detector support group to provide further support when Arshak leaves
  • Mindy from detector support group continues wrapping modules
  • Plan to arrange with JLab communications office to highlight FCAL-2/JEF
    • Phil also discussed press release from his institution
