Meeting time and location:

  • 9:30 am EST (JLab time) remote only
  • Zoom meeting ID: 161 050 9142 Passcode: 004965

Agenda

  • Preparation of parts for FCAL2 modules -- Sasha
    • Crystals:
10 CRYTUR crystals (out of 95 [1] ) were sent to us last week
All crystals from the CCAL prototype were removed
26 crystals were wrapped by Mindy
      Number of available crystals: 1487 (modules) + 26 = 1513, expect to receive 95 from CRYTUR: 1513 + 95 = 1608 (12 spares)
    • George (DSG group) unwrapped CCAL modules and removed LMS caps. Preshaped 48 ESR reflectors, have to preshape 32 more.
    • More than 200 long signal cables received, can start checking, bundling, labeling
    • Procurement parts for the LMS
Ordered 16,000 ft of optical fibers. Expect that they will be delivered in May. Adding additional 8000 ft to the PO
      Ordered 18000 of polycarbonate donats
  • Module fabrication -- Sasha
    • Fabricated modules: Total 1487
      Available for fabrication: 26
Fabricate 36 modules using 'low quality' crystals for stacking mockup and 'crash' tests (train students on them)
  • Testing of PMT dividers -- Sasha / Vlad / Arshak
    • FCAL2 modules with dividers installed on the CCAL [2]
    • Met with Vlad P. on Tuesday. Fine tuned the divider circuit (modified some resistors). Chris S. ordered new parts
  • Installation of the FCAL2 detector & integration to GlueX -- Sasha / Arshak
Discussion of the FCAL2 installation procedures [4]

Minutes

Attendees: Igor, Igal, Bill, Stjepan, Sasha, Olga, Arshak, Liping, Jane, Malte, S.T.

  • 10 Crytur crystals were shipped to JLab about a week ago
  • CCAL crystals all removed and unwrapped, LMS caps removed
    • 26 re-wrapped and ready to be fabricated into FCAL-2 modules
  • 1513 good crystals available out of 1608 (12 spares)
  • 48 ESR reflectors pre-shaped ready for Crytur crystals
  • 1487 fabricated FCAL-2 crystals in total
  • Some "low quality" modules (with chips, scratches, discoloration) inherited from NPS will be used to test stacking (+ force analysis?)
  • Cables are arriving, 200 signal cables ready for labeling and bundling
  • Fibers for LMS on order
  • Still considering Rohacell solution for LMS fibers
  • PMT divider testing continues
    • Beam test with 3x amplifiers: had to lower HV, resolution not as good as COMCAL
    • Pulse shape with bypassed amplifier looks good, but deformation of pulse shape seen at high amplitude
    • Fine-tuning of resistors in divider chain -> can ramp up HV a little
    • Need to send out for fabrication soon
  • Students: many tasks identified
    • Visual inspection of fabricated modules + testing in black box
    • Cabling
    • Module fabrication
    • Testing dividers
    • Procedures being updated by Sasha
    • Cutting and gluing fibers for LMS (space needs to be assigned)
  • Igal meeting with Malachi (head of Data Science group) to get Daniel Lersch involved with JEF
