Minutes
Attending: Albert, Alex, Andrew, Beni, David, Ebode, Elton, Gary, Ilya, Mark, Nikhil, Rory, Simon
- Previous CPP meeting: Oct 20, 2021
- Announcements
- Delays in beam to Hall D is putting pressure on the schedule. Beni mentioned that there has been an incident in Hall A that has them down and may delay the energy change. We need to prepare a plan for a trigger test in case any time become available.
- CPP and NPP Experiment Configuration
- Elton has created an index wiki page that can be used to place all the production experimental information. We should use it to centralize the information already available.
- Mark [Noted at end of meeting] There are duplicate calendar entries for this meeting. Elton will delete his series, leaving David's.
- Action Items
- Rory will check that Walt has billed JLab.
- Ilya agreed to develop a draft plan for the TOF trigger tests
- Software/Calibration for CPP (David, Alex and Sean)
- Alex: Sean developed a dummy translation table for the EEL test setup and Alex has checked it.
- He has written a test FMWPC_online plugin using the translation table and showed that occupancy plots reproduce those generated by mwpc_checks script.
- Created a FMWPC_hits objects, which contain "calibrated hits" from the pulse parameters provided by the firmware. ADC integrals -> dE, TDC -> ns. He needs input from the group to develop further
- Discussion: Probably will create some "clusters" of hits that contain dE info + position + size information. These clusters would be used to match up with tracking information. Alex will work on a clustering algorithm.
- David: Has developed some code for hdview2 to show FMWPC hit information on a git branch. Needs to finish up and generate a pull request.
- AI for Experimental Controls testing during CPP
- Data provided by Andrew seems to be all muons and no pions. He will regenerate the files to be checked by David and Nikhil.
- MWPC Testing
- FMWPC Log Book
- See https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3932878 Summary of efficiency estimates]
- Five MWPCs can run with "zero" baseline threshold. Denethor needs a Th=200.
- Galadriel and Frodo need Th > 500 due to large electronic noise.
- Good news is that design seems to be sound. Rory suspects that the two "noisy" chambers have some grounding issues. He will investigate further when he has a chance to come to JLab.
- Elton: What is the basis for the nominal setting of HV=1765 V? Rory: Using the small prototype, the 55Fe source was used to establish the gain at UMass of 10^5 for HV=1800 V. However, the premix gas at JLab is somewhat different and somewhat higher gain. Adjusting for this difference, Rory expects that the JLab gas conditions yield a gain of 10^5 at a HV=1765 V.
- Slow Controls (Beni)
- hdgeant4 updates (Mark)
- TOF Trigger
- Ilya will draft a plan for testing the TOF trigger if we can find time this fall.
- GlueX Data Analysis
- CPP Simulations (Simon)
- Has added trigger scintillators (labeled ctof) to the geometry, sensitive volumes in geant4, mcsmear, class of fmwpc in reconstruction.
- Plans to submit a pull request soon.
- PID + AI
- Other business
- Need to finalize the configuration of MWPCs next week for discussions with Tim/Stephanie
