New Action Items from this Meeting

Minutes

Attendees: Elliott W, Vardan G, Chris C, Simon T, Bryan M, Yi Q, Mark I, William G, Lubomir P, Beni Z, Alex S, David L.

GTP

Chris described recent work on the GTP, see his slides linked to the agenda.

  • Original design used 6 FPGA's, current design only needs one. This leads to simpler layout, less power dissipation.
  • Will continue to use multiple 2.5 GBit lanes to get 10 GBit aggregate bandwidth.
  • Just starting board redesign now, need to hire another engineer into Electronics group.

Trigger Test Stand

Alex reported on his and Elliott's work on the new FADC250 trigger test stand in F117.

  • Elliott set up a standalone codaLite system in F117 dedicated to the trigger test.
  • Some problems getting going due to bad NIM power supplie, blown fuses, incompatible libs, etc.
  • Now everything is working and Alex is able to read out pulses.
  • Using VXS crate borrowed from DAQ group.
  • Using one 10-bit FADC250.
  • Triggering using a standard TI card. Will try other FADC-based trigger in the future.
  • Trigger pulse is a suitably delayed version of the original signal pulse (from NIM pulser).
  • Temporarily using modules in Beni's NIM crate until the other NIM power supply is repaired.
  • Currently using "Window Raw Data" mode of FADC250, will investigate other modes.
  • Alex showed plots of the digitized pulses.
  • Goals include learning how to use other FADC250 readout modes, downloading new FPGA programs, and downloading fake pulses (from MC) to test trigger algorithms in FADC250.

Coil Test

Elliott reported on recent progress in the solenoid coil test.

  • Almost all controls equipment has arrived.
  • Scot and Slava completed mods to wiring drawings (100 drawings!).
  • Wiring of racks in F117 to begin in earnest, with Armen's help.
  • Josh writing up operational docs, will start safety review soon.
  • Coil 1 repair proceeding slowly.
  • Coil 3 PO almost out.
  • Transportainer, rails, etc. have arrived.

VXS/VME Crate Purchase

Chris reported on the status of the large VXS/VME crate purchase. He is hoping to get the PO out this fiscal year. It would be for about 70 VXS crates and 30 VME 64X crats.

Miscellaneous Electronics Items

  • 7 CLAS12-style leading edge discriminators are coming.
  • SSP board order should go out soon.
