Announcements

  • gluon46 was upgraded to RHEL7 a week ago for two reasons:
    1. CODA testing on RHEL7
    2. Test if spontaneous reboot problem is due to hardware or software
    • It has been up for nearly 5 days as of this morning without any reboots
    • The machine was rebooted multiple times on July 8th and 10th but Dave A. claims this was due to work he was doing and were purposeful.
  • gluonweb/gluon24 has had an issue with the iDRAC factuality on the motherboard since it was brought online after the power outage.
    • Paul L. spent time looking at it today and communicating with the vendor
    • Vendor will come out tomorrow to replace motherboard

online plugin move + offline switch to Git

  • The offline monitoring group uses the online monitoring plugins extensively and requested their location in the repository be moved to the sim-recon tree
  • This would make things easier for the offline folks and would not really interfere with the online since both online and offline code must be present as part of the online monitoring system anyway
  • plugins were moved as described in e-mail on July 14th
  • This was done prior to the offline software move to git that is scheduled to occur tonight so as not to impose major changes to directory structure right after the switchover
  • There are currently no plans to move the online to git. However, once some experience is gained from the offline, we may consider it for consistency. If this is done it will likely be early Fall so as not to interfere with the ramp up of operations prior to opportunistic beam in November/December.

RCDB Deployment

  • Sergey has updated the DAQ so that the state transition scripts write to the MySQL DB on gluondb1 now instead of an sqlite file.
  • Replication is already in place to automatically copy the DB from gluondb1 to hallddb
  • Replication is also done to gluondb2 for backup purposes
  • Some effort had been made in Jan. to implement the necessary features into the halldweb apache2 web server to accommodate the dynamic page generation provided by Dmitry's scripts
  • Dave is working with Marty to get the final details worked out so that the outward facing halldweb will be able to serve the RCDB web pages based on information in hallddb.
  • Sean reminded Dave of scripts he wrote that use the RCDB API. These (or at least their location) was sent to Dave and Sergey some weeks ago. Dave will track down the e-mail.
  • Expect website to be up and working by next meeting in 2 weeks.

DAQ System Development

  • Sergey was not here and no one had any information on this.

Recharge Wednesday

  • Rumored to be some type of cobbler (flavor unknown)
  • Unknown whether there will be an a la mode option
    • update: web shows "mixed berry crisp ala mode"
