FDC Weekly Meeting

Date: October 25, 2006

Participants: Daniel, Brian

Next Meeting: Wednesday, November 1, 2006 @ 1:30 p.m.

Tensioned Cathodes

We discussed the design issues associated with the tensioned
cathode planes. To eliminate pressure differential across the
planes (to keep them flat), we will have to ensure the gas
volume includes the regions between neighboring cathodes. The
design will also have to include gas windows on both end of the
   each package.

Board Design Issues

 - We agreed to confine the electronics for each active plane to
a 120 deg arc to help with clearance issues.
 - Brian will make 3-D drawings at some point so that this can
   be studied.
 - We discussed the 120 cm O.D.. Nothing except cables should extend
   into this area.

Daughter Boards

 - We discussed the connections of the preamps to the wire planes and
cathode planes. We will not use a ``diving board" design, but
will have preamp daughter boards that extend radially (against the
circuit boards). This is important for stability. We can afford
to take a few more cm of radial space.
 - Brian and DSC looked at the preamp dimensions and this looks like
   it will work.
