Items for followup from previous meeting(s)

  1. Monitoring
    • Fcal: Review if cross talk experience from other detectors is relevant to this geometry and, if needed, suggest test/simulations to investigate.
  2. Fcal
    • Decide on the extent of checking glass blocks recently shipped from IU (JLab) Decided to unstack one crate and check contents.
  3. Simulation Studies ongoing . David coordinating task force.
    • Need to study the reconstruction efficiency.
    • Check timing resolution at 90 deg compared to beam test
    • Check inefficiencies compared to previous studies by Mihajlo.

Minutes

Attending:Beni, Tim, David, Elton, Lubomir (JLab); Christina, Stratos (Athens); Zisis, Andrei (UofR).

  1. Announcements
  2. Review of Action Items
    • Fcal boxes. Decided to unstack one crate and check contents.
  3. Monitoring
    1. File:LED study-2 v1-1.pdf
      • Various configurations lead to ratios of far/near of 0.1 to 1, using baby cal. To extrapolate to full module divide by about 3.
    2. New idea of fabricating a single PC board containing the control electronics as well as all 10 LED boards.
      • Considerable discussion on this new concept
      • Uses new "forward focused" LEDs with less flexibility for orienting at 15 deg than the previous generation
      • Machines a step into the light guide to place the LED boards. Tests of acceptance of these light guides implies that not much light is lost.
      • Elton comments: 1) Note that the sides of the light guides are not all parallel, which means that the long board could not lay flat on the light guide surfaces 2) board designs for Bcal and Fcal would become completely different.
      • The new concept will be discussed offline. However, the single board idea might not work since the light guides sides are not parallel.
  4. FCAL
    1. Construction Status: mechanical, bases
      • No report
  5. BCAL
    1. Construction Status: builds, fibre QA
      • Stacking of 37 and 38 will be completed early next week
      • Ross is starting machining 33-36 this week
      • Elton inquired about cleanliness of last shipment. Subsequent modules will be checked carefully before shipment.
    2. Lead
      • Tim has ordered 35 rolls (8 m) of 13mm wide lead for use in fabricating the extra module.
  6. Simulations
    • David is leading meetings on Thu at 11:30 to understand the Bcal simulations. Last week was the first meeting with good exchanges.
  7. Any other business
