Items for followup from previous meeting(s)

  1. Monitoring
    • Send additional SiPMs to Athens for tests (Elton). Electronics is being prepared, should be ready by next week sometime.
    • Measure stability of light intensity as a function of time.
    • Jlab to generate a drawing of the plexiglass sheet to be used in next batch of tests.
  2. FCAL
    • Send IU the drawings for the FCAL welded frame. (Tim) Drawings are being signed today and will be forwarded to IU.

Tentative Agenda

Attending: Alam, Will, Hayk, Javiera (new production manager) (USM); Elton, John L., Tim, David, John D., Eugene (Jlab); Kei tried unsuccessfully to connect via EVO

  1. Announcements
    • USM has hired a production manager for testing SiPM. Her name is Javiera Quiroz. !Bienvenida!
  2. Review of Action Items
  3. Monitoring.
    • There have been some e-mail exchanges between Chuck, Jim and Elton at JLab and Christina.
    • The current geometry appears to have an interference with the board. Will probably move the location of the LED on the bottom side of the board.
    • I talked to Christina via skype this morning. They have made progress on setting up the Fcal setup: All UV LEDs are in hand and the plexiglass has been ordered but not yet polished.
  4. Beam tests in Hall B (fall 2011) (John)
    • Not much change since last meeting. Analysis is still in progress
    • Italian group is also testing a prototype of the forward cal, which is under the tagger on the floor of Hall B. Any changes to the configuration will need to include them in the discussions.
  5. FCAL
    1. Construction Status: mechanical, bases (notes from Matt)
      • New batch of bases have been received, but fabrication issues remain and Paul is working on them.
      • The two faulty bases that were sent for the beamtest have been returned. Some loose connections of the transition board were found on one, but the failures are still under investigation.
  6. BCAL
    1. Construction Status: builds, mini module
      • No update
    2. Fibres
  7. Readiness Review: Testing of light sensors for Bcal
    • Three recommendations
    • Qualify the test setup by comparing results of 30 First Article units already tested at JLab
    • Instate a production manager
    • Update documentation with final procedures
  8. USM update
    1. Javiera Quiroz has been hired as the production manager
    2. Only two days of holidays, so work on the testing has proceeded at a good pace
    3. Qualifying the test setup (Alam and Will)
      • Detailed comparisons are proceeding in station 2.
      • So far eight first article pieces have been tested. The test setup suffers from a slow DAQ, which is being replaced with a faster system. The current test rate is 6 hours/SiPM
      • Data from USM, JLab and Hamamatsu is strongly correlated, although the absolute values are somewhat different.
      • A more detail update will be presented at the Bcal meeting next week.
    4. Improvements in station 3 (Will)
      • Silicon pads to ensure contact between the SiPM and the cooling plate are on order
      • Data taking at different temperatures are accomplished using station 3. The thermistors recording temperatures on the cooling plate are monitored and are repeatable, but not yet calibrated. Temperature for test is being set at the chiller to 1.5-2 deg below desired temperature at the SiPM.
    5. Production Manager Report
      • Stage 4 will be the offline analysis. Results from this stage are currently being included into the data base. Two dedicated computers have been installed for the analysis.
  9. Simulations/Reconstruction
  10. Any other business
