Minutes

Attendees: Matt (IU), Christina, George (Athens), Will (CMU), Sean (FSU), Ahmed, Andrei, Zisis (Regina)"

  1. Announcements: beam is back after a couple of days with issues.
  2. Action Items: Sean - nothing to report, Will completed the non-linearities so this will move off the list.
  3. FCAL Update: routine maintenance continues.
  4. BCAL update: minor issues are being addressed by Mark and Sean.
  5. Calibrations:
    • Sean mentioned that the pi0 skims are available. Will corrected his code to do the track matching/veto tracks and sent it to Tegan yesterday. Tegan will run the inclusive code and report back to Sean.
    • Sean reported that the higher level calibrations from last time look good for both BCAL and FCAL, with only minor run-to-run shifts needing to be dealt with.
    • Andrei will show Zisis how to do the cosmics gain factor calibration. A summer student will work on this and will need to develop code for BCAL self-triggering on cosmics. Will added that Layer 4 is only calibrated in this way, so it would be good to check this periodically.
  6. Reconstruction and Simulation: Andrei reported briefly on his work regarding neutron-gamma separation. That part is not too hard, but it is more challenging to reconstruct the neutron's momentum. He is also running HDGEANT simulations for this work, in addition to the standalone simulations that Irina ran. A more detailed progress report will be given at our next meeting in two weeks.
  7. NIM article: Matt has the FCAL NIM article on his radar for this calendar year.
  8. Any other business: none.
