Agenda

  1. Dark scalar search updates

Minutes

Attendees: Igal,Sasha,Zisis,Jon,Liping,Varun,Tim B.,Susan,Jane

  • Our MRI project was not funded; we discussed what to do next...
    • Apply for a smaller grant?
    • Go back to PAC to ask for more time given reduced insert size compared to our original plan?
    • Need to revisit impact of smaller insert (80x80 cm^2 instead of 100x100 cm^2)
      • Need to look at other hadronic backgrounds (in addition to 3π0 background).
  • Crystal production: China is on holiday this week, assume production will resume next week
    • Shipping of crystals SICCAS has already produced next week?
    • Some material delivery issues, but want/expect to finish current contract within the next 2 months
  • PMT base redesign developments: Sasha had installed a few new bases on the COMCAL -- disconnected cables, move to floor of Hall next week
    • 2 bases did not work; still need to debug why
    • Sasha plans to do LED tests on bench
    • Need to coordinate between Vlad P. and Fernando B. to finalize design (resistor values,...)
    • Zisis working on getting Regina involved in PMT base studies
  • Module construction
    • Nick S. working on temperature control for brazing; need to resume brazing tests
    • Light guides: still need to order the full set, assuming the polishing has been improved
  • Igal updated his presentation on the Dark Scalar boson search using η→π0γγ
    • Slides 48-51.
    • S/sqrt(B) is better for FCAL-2 than FCAL, but requiring 3 out 4 photons in insert appears to be counterproductive
  • We encouraged Susan to contact her WASA colleagues to see if any are interested in joining the JEF effort
  • Liping presented JEF at the recent Snowmass planning meeting; JEF was mentioned during several other presentations.
