Agenda

Preparation of parts for ECAL -- Sasha

  • - HV distribution boards [1][2]
- Connectors and cables were installed on the PCBs of 2 HV distribution boards. Sammy and Chris are working on the third board, it will likely be ready during next week (Sammy also works on GEM/TRD)
- Boxes for HV boards have been just been ordered. Expected delivery date 11/15/2024.
- Vince P. has machined parts for two temporary distribution boards. They should be assembled either today or in the beginning of next week.
- Ordered parts (LEDs and components) for the updated LMS light source.

Installation of the FCAL2 detector & integration to GlueX -- Sasha, All

  • Installation of the light distribution board of the ECAL LMS [3]
- Vlad P. has slightly modified the design of the LMS light source in order to increase the amount of light. We'll start tested the new version during next or following week.
  • Implementing ECAL into the GlueX DAQ [4]
- rocecal3 crate was fixed [5] (initial DAQ implementation [6])
- implementing flash ADC scalers [7]
- translation table for the ECAL (finalize/check translation DB, generate xml file, import to the CCDB) - done [8]
- implementing and verifying ECAL LMS trigger [9]
- implementing and verifying the ECAL physics trigger. First event reconstructed using the GlueX software [10]
- Start implementing VTP trigger modules. Requires modification of firmware. The trigger crates may be unavailable for 1 - 1.5 months.
- The VTP was installed in the D2-1-TOP crate, IP address assigned, and can be booted now
- Connecting cooling pipes to the ECAL fan (done by tech group)
- Installing dark room ceiling and insulation inside the room, required for cooling test (almost complete)
- Test cooling system (in progress, almost complete)
- Installing HV distribution boards, start switching the detector ON (waiting for HV boxes)

Restoring PS test setup [16]

ECAL commissioning -- Sasha, All

Calibrations

Analysis/Simulation

Laveen Update

Presentation at IEEE [17]

Conference trip was not supported by Hall D

Minutes

Attendees: Bill, Sasha, Laveen, Igal, Zhikun, Vlad, Olga, Susan, Liping, Jane, S.T.

  • Still waiting for HV distribution boxes
    • Working on temporary solution with JLab machine shop
    • PCBs being populated (2 1/2 out of 4 ready)
  • Working on increasing light output for LMS
    • Vlad Popov modified Fernando's design
    • Try using LEDs with smaller aperture (these have arrived)
    • Use 9 LEDs to start
    • Current light output good enough to check fixed fibers (have list of low-amplitude channels)
  • Implementing VTPs for DAQ
    • One installed, bootable as controller
    • Can record intermediate trigger calculation
  • Scintillator paddles installed for cosmic ray trigger
    • Select tracks going through middle of ECAL
    • Use to start equalization of gains
  • LV cables reinstalled at distribution panel
  • Dark room now light tight, insulation still needed
  • Commissioning: expect this will take at least one month
    • Need to be able to turn on whole detector, delayed by HV boards
  • Need to install reference PMTs for LMS
    • Need radioactive source, discussed with RadCon
    • All parts ready or identified (can reuse parts from COMCAL)
    • Goal: December
  • Calibrations
    • π0 code already exists, depends on initial calibration using Compton scattering
    • Try looking for 2 showers in ECAL, need to understand efficiency for Compton events
  • Laveen presented work importing GlueX FCAL-2 coordinates in HyCAL code
  • Discussion of proceedings for workshop in Poland
    • Consensus: okay to present things from proposal so long as assumptions are made clear
    • We acknowledge we expect backgrounds to be higher than presented in proposal
