Agenda
- CRYTUR crystals
- SICCAS crystals
- Preparations for upcoming run
Minutes
Attendees: Arshak, Vlad B., Liping, Josh C., Jane, S.T., Sasha, Zisis
- Wuhan contract: Eugene got response from contract department, no problems seen, will proceed with info provided by Jane.
- CRYTUR crystals are in Vlad's lab, look good.
- SICCAS crystals are more or less on schedule -- expect some in December? Company will tell Jane when they are ready for visual inspection.
- Mentioned some unspecified "difficulty", doesn't seem to be a showstopper.
- Buy more (~30) CRYTUR crystals for region closest to beam line? (price differential $1.8k vs $1k (SICCAS) needs to be considered).
- Rolf still on board with buying SICCAS crystals up to a total of 1600 (500 already on order).
- Keep adding to existing order? Feedback needed first?
- PMTs: received 50 first article tubes out of 500, but have wrong socket type!
- Will accept, can adapt with some machining of parts
- Need to sort according to diameter (2 are too big, need to reject; 8 more tight fit into shielding)
- Considering cooperating with NPS to get smaller diameter tubes will giving them the ones that are too big.
- Test collar planned
- Plan to test ~20% of the tubes
- Nex 50 PMTs should arrive soon, should have right sockets.
- Plan to duplicate Vlad's light yield setup
- Set up in EEL 126?
- Dark box components on order
- Some parts need to be 3D printed
- Trigger scintillator needs to be tested
- Electronics stand needed (VXS crate, PC, HV, etc.) -- goal = January?
- Fernando has ordered crates.
- Clean room for module assembly -- space identified in TEDF, space cleaned out in December
- Light transmission setup: Carl Zorn's lab in ARC upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
- Finalization of module design
- Light guides are chopped and polished, ready to go.
- Will use DIRC cookie idea, ready for testing.
- Ready for force analysis -- can use "banged-up" crystals for this purpose
- Need to address question of whether 25 micron thick straps are good enough
- No corrosion seen with latest brazing compound/technique
- Need 4 new brazing heads, need temp controls.
- Keep several assembled modules on shelf for some time to check stability over time.
- Soft iron for magnetic shield has been annealed.
- ESR (reflective material) thickness is currently 65 microns, looking into finding thinner material.
- Goal for "final" design by mid January.
- Test setup on PS arm
- Platform ready Dec 4?
- Still need plate for 12 module assembly
- Use some junk crystals to test assembly?
- Base redesign (Vlad P.)
- 3 new bases installed in COMCAL
- 2 with amplification change, 1 with low pass filter added
- Measure linearity
- Final desing by summer 2020?
- 3 new bases installed in COMCAL
- Discussed idea to replace bases for LG in FCAL.
