Agenda

  • SICCAS crystals
  • Module fabrication
  • COMCAL tests, TAC running, etc.
-Black box for divider testing
-Check modified dividers
  • Data analysis
  • Simulations

Minutes

Attendees: Sasha,Jane,Phil,Jon,Liping,Zisis,Bill,Arshak,Tim B.,Olga,Susan,Igor

  • Latest ETA for SICCAS crystals is end of June
    • Want to arrange Jane to do pre-selection of crystals
  • Expect delivery of first batch of 50 PMTs in 3 months, with monthly batches thereafter
    • 11 months total for full set of 1000
  • Sasha ordered 1200 flanges, working on brazing procedure
    • Not happy with consistency of quality of results
    • Would prefer to outsource to company
  • Sasha described black box containing laser+optical bench for PMT testing
  • Sasha performed check of 30 modified dividers (intended for COMCAL)
    • Some bases were not functional or had small pulse amplification, so looks like need to check all
    • Saw 1-2% gain degradation at 15 microAmps anode current
      • Need to keep anode current small to extend lifetime
      • High current leads to gain variation
  • PMT divider design for FCAL-2 still in the works; waiting for version from Fernando
    • Zisis' group can look at replacing amplifier with simplified circuit in parallel
    • Zisis can do tests when new design from Fernando becomes available
  • Azizah (U. Regina) will redo Indiana U.'s TMVA-based neural network study of FCAL, then try with FCAL-2
    • Planned comparison of default vs island cluster algorithms
