Agenda
- SICCAS crystals
- COMCAL tests, TAC running, etc.
- Data analysis
- Simulations
Minutes
Attendees: Arsak,Phil,Zisis,Sasha,Igal,Liping,Jared,Tim B.,Jon,S.T.
- Delivery of next batch of SICCAS crystals delayed until June
- Still on track to deliver enough for 40x40 insert by 2023?
- Crytur indicate that they can also produce crystals for us: produce in parallel?
- Liping drafting letter to management focusing on insert; decided to have second letter and/or contact GlueX collaboration board regarding refurbishing FCAL HV
- Sasha continues studies of PMT divider modifications
- Recent mods seem to alleviate some of the non-linearity problems
- Not clear this design is appropriate for calorimetry -- current thinking is to have external power supply for amplifier
- Fernando to come up with new version
- Still plan to use divider with no extra amplification for CCAL, with optional 3x amplification
- Sasha will check rate stability
- Chris S. working on paperwork for loan to U. Regina
- Recent mods seem to alleviate some of the non-linearity problems
- CCAL refurbishment continuing
- Josh working on CCAL LMS refurbishment: new optical fibers have arrived; working on cutting/polishing/bundling
- Checked optical contact of optical grease used in CCAL: observed some bubbles not present at time of construction
- Liping suggested to look for evidence of radiation damage; Sasha indicates CCAL crystals look uniform (no obvious evidence of radiation damage)
- Igal preparing simulation for Jared for testing signal PDFs for dark scalar searches and to study background
- Want to study how important signal shape is: would a single gaussian be sufficient, or is a more complicated function needed?
- Estimate level of systematic bias
- Possible resolution improvements due to kinematic fit could improve sensitivity
- Want to study how important signal shape is: would a single gaussian be sufficient, or is a more complicated function needed?
- Sasha reported discussion with Fernando regarding replacing FCAL Cockroft-Walton HV with design common with what we are planning for insert
- About 30% of the FCAL HV channels have failed so far
- Given cooling requirements for insert, doing repairs on the bases will be more cumbersome for FCAL-II
- Fernando seems to agree that moving away from the Cockroft-Walton approach is the way to go
- Need cost estimate
- About 30% of the FCAL HV channels have failed so far
