Agenda

  • SICCAS crystals
  • Module fabrication
  • COMCAL tests, TAC running, etc.
  • Data analysis
  • Simulations
    • Two-photon kinematics from gen_pi0 (Jon) [1]

Minutes

Attendees: Sasha, Arshak, Bill, Liping, Jane, Phil, Jon, Chase, Zisis

  • SICCAS crystals: Sasha will message SICCAS to find out about their progress, since they should have received the new powder from the vendor yesterday. Their plan is to produce a sample within two weeks to test product quality. As reported previously, CRYTUR can produce crystals for us. Sasha met with Rolf and discussed the possibility of using some spare xtals from the lab's CRYTUR pool.
  • Module fabrication: a bureaucratic snag happened in Joanna's case, in terms of being able to access the lab. While a solution is being sough, Joanna is working from a cubicle in CEBAF Centre.
  • COMCAL tests, TAC running, etc.: dividers are installed back in and HV tests will start today. Sasha is working with Tim on the design of the LMS mounting frame to accommodate the bending radius of the new, 1-mm-diameter fibres. After this is done the fibres will be glued to the xtal faces. The detector should be in the hall in 2-3 weeks.
  • Data analysis: no report.
  • Simulations:
    • Jon showed the kinematics of exclusive π0 based on Vincent's Regge model that is embedded in the gen_pi0 generator. No reconstruction was done. The slides included polar angle, distance between photons on the FCAL face and photon energy distributions (1D and 2D). The minimum distance between the photons is 13cm (equivalent to 3 original blocks). These kinematics motivate our Island vs Standard reconstruction algorithm tests. A follow up would be using 3π0, where the opening angles between the photons can be smaller.
    • Zisis reported that Azizah is running a grid search (photon energies, angles and distance on FCAL face) manually with unrealistic photon four vectors, and will next move to using distributions from Jon's plots.
    • Chase reported that he and Joanna are testing TMVA features under Igal's guidance, and will move to training on simulated samples next week.
