Minutes

Participants: Naomi, Curtis, Tim, Beni, Mark,.... tried to connect but could not, so made do with a phone conversation and minutes contributed separately.

FDC Update

  1. the forth cell of the second package will be ready to install beginning next week.
  2. the fifth cell will be ready by Dec. 16th
  3. the full second package is expected to be complete by early January.
  4. the high currents observed in some wire planes seem to be related to individual PCB board segments. Some high (100nA) currents are observed on PCB boards even before being glued into a ring and with the capacitors removed. This is at 2500 Volts or more.
  5. the current estimate to finish one full package is 3 month. This is 2 month shorter than scheduled.
  6. following Fernando's recommendations the cooling loops will not be used for grounding and only temperature conducting paste will be used between the brackets and the preamp cards.
  7. the first FDC package will be moved to the EEL after the Christmas break because during this time the power in the EEL building is shut off!!
  8. procedures are established on how and who is doing the HV connections on the FDC package. The connections of the thin red wires to the connector will be installed by Chris insitu.

CDC Update

There are 1378 wires still to be strung. We are completing row 8 and moving onto row 12, which is the last in the first pair of stereo blocks.

We expect to finish stringing in early February.

The soldering is as difficult as expected and practice is critical. We do not have many spare transition boards to practice with, so we have asked Fernando if we can get some additional boards made. One possibility is to get some made up here (or locally in Pittsburgh) if he could send us the production files.

We will try to set up a meeting in the near future to review the list of remaining parts for the CDC to ensure that we will have everything ready to move into the next phase.
