    1. Preparations for Spring Run

Minutes

Attendees: Elton, Mark (Jlab), Curtis, Will, Mike (CMU), George (Athens), Ahmed, Noemi, Zisis (Regina)’’

  1. Announcements:
    1. Solenoid on track to be cooled down in a couple of weeks; keep at 1200 A for spring run, higher current after run. Accelerator will need commissioning weeks in February to tune things (fast feedback, nano amps bpms). Standard shifts ops.
    2. Elton's email: ongoing conversation; solicit input by email. This could pipe info into the upcoming Wed meeting.
    3. Hall D Wednesday Jan 13 meeting: initial discussion to set up run plan. Status of detector system.
  2. Action Items
  3. Calibration/Commissioning
    1. Cosmics analysis (Andrei, Irina)
    2. Time-walk corrections (Noemi): progressing. 4-parameter fits done, fits done on all data points rather than fits within bins, and TDC vs ADC t-w will be checked next and compared to TDC-ADC_t vs ADC.
    3. Layer efficiencies (Ahmed): Mike is making progress in emulation code. Will not work for old runs; mostly for future runs. Firmware fADC250 might be ready during spring run, but collaboration might not use it during the run. f125 emulation works great: 200 bad events out of 10,000,000 events. Mod 8 was missing the integral and will have it in the new format (even in raw data).
    4. Effective speed (George): nothing new. Effective speed is on hold; waiting for new data to run the code. Working on pi0 analysis and learning.
    5. Muon decays (Will): nothing new. Working on Andrei's text file and Andrei will provide ROOT files for this calibration.
    6. Pi0 events Fall 2015 [3] (Will M): Mark's NSA and NSB changes between spring and fall 2015. Code same as that in offline monitoring histograms. Target position is 63.8 cm but should be 96 cm for this run. Target position is in HDDS and should be communicated automatically to the different codes. Curtis: does HDDS have time stamps, or run-number dependencies? Bring this up with Offline Group. pi0 means vary from 100-109 MeV/c2. With 96cm target means go 125-127 MeV/c2. NSA-NSB captured ratio is 88% of old NSA-NSB value. Fall had no tracking, but the NSA-NSB made up for some of this compared to spring running. S/N dropped in fall vs spring running, because of inability to use tracking. Optimization code has not been done yet, but will be attempted even without tracking. Target was downstream of START so it can't be used either. The final table is in eLog; useful for pi0 count for runs. We should normalize (beam current, radiator thicknesses) and produce a flux.
    7. Calibration (CCDB): After Colombia talk on SiPM, Elton is looking at MySQL DBs for SiPM (Santa Maria and JLab). There are discrepancies: a) PDE values disagree (Santa Maria has larger PDE than JLab). At JLab Vbr was not measured, just took Hamamatsu values. Santa Maria measured it. b) Santa Maria dark rates are very small. Sort this out for a BCAL paper. BCAL Construction stuff should be included in a NIM (what was learned about the construction). Orlando and Hayk are still at Santa Maria. Orlando will come to Jlab to work on Hall B. Zisis to do outline for paper and stab at construction paper.
  4. Reconstruction: Tegan and Justin have made progress on the eta prime; a peak is now visible above the background.
  5. Any other business (Elton's email)
    1. Proposal to Tom and Tim to run the chiller at 5 C (so sensors at 7 C), using water in the chiller. Check for stable operation for a long time at this temperature. Mark will study the bias voltages at 7 C (he did before at 10 C and 18 C).
    2. Get pi0 normalization.
    3. Experimental triggers. EPICs events trigger, BCAL, BCAL-FCAL etc. We do not know what the trigger bits mean. We need a convention and understand. We need LED pulser data in the data. Comics data before and after run. Mix LED and Cosmic data before run starts. Run Orlando' scripts at the beginning of each run.; now we need to accommodate data taking with the TS. Will can work on this with help from Mark. Also, we need to print out diagnostics (instead of just looking at histos).
    4. Make a specific request for how much data we need in the spring running at next week's Wed meeting.
    5. Make a Wiki page that is linked off Alexandre's run plan page.
