Minutes

Attendees: Karthik, Tolga, Elton, Eugene, Varun, Matt, Malte, Madelyn, Rebecca, Stjepan, Sean, Susan, Jon, Igal, Zisis

  1. Announcements: Zisis introduced Madelyn, a Regina undergraduate working on CCDB/BCAL and ML for JEF.
  2. Past Meeting Minutes: none.
  3. Review Action Items: we will review these at our next meeting.
  4. Run Operations
    1. FCAL: Malte reported that the base change rate is low, around 2 per week. There are some hot channels across different racks, crates, ADC boards; if the trigger rate goes up it could be due to an FCAL channel; it shows up in the scalers. In one case a LEMO cable needed tightening. Igal suggested looking at neighbour block scalers in diagnosing issues.
    2. BCAL: Report from Mark by email: We’re having issues keeping the BCAL LEDs working properly. They should alternate sides but this has stopped a few times. I tried increasing the time between caput calls and this may have helped but it’s still happening. I’ve been treating it by manually restarting the pulsing and script and this seems to have worked. We don’t have a good real time way of seeing if things are working. There are a couple of hot channels and apparently Sergey’s pedestal finding routine is not fixing them. Perhaps the baseline on those channels in the FADC has lost a bit of precision which prevents the fine tuning. I think we’ve seen this before. Zisis will contact Hovanes to check on which operations can be done remotely.
    3. CCAL: no report
  5. Calibration
    1. Karthik has looked at some CPP runs. S/N ratio on layer 3 is below 1. Sean will communicate with Karthik offline to optimize selections (ie not use the normal trigger, TOF).
    2. Stjepan: Brief update on the status of the PrimEx BCAL calibration for the magnetic field off targets. B-off now uses B-on plus Igal's scaling factor. Sean okayed the updating of ccdb with these numbers. For MT target runs Igal suggested we use the same constants from B-on.
  6. Monitoring
    1. BCAL (offline)
      1. Tolga: Brief update on adding phi to Hadronic Efficiencies scripts. Elton will communicate offline with Tolga on the next steps and appropriate plots to examine.
    2. FCAL (offline): no report
    3. CCAL (offline): no report
  7. Reconstruction
  8. Simulations: Matt reported on work that Kevin Saldana is doing at IU using LED data, to better determine the timing resolution of the FCAL. The preliminary results look encouraging: the timing resolution is not flat at 400 ps (as is used in the MC) but has an ADC value dependance and in the flat region it looks lower than 250ps. This is work in progress.
  9. Any other business
