  1. Announcements
    • Greg Kalicy (ODU) from the EIC DIRC group is interested in attending our meetings but has a conflict with another meeting. We will keep the current time slot until after the October review and then reassess.
  2. Planning for October review (All)
    • TDR
      • Mike and Justin made some updates over the last week and we agreed this was ready to send to internal reviewers today after Curtis made some minor corrections this afternoon.
      • Cristiano is currently studying possibility of calibrating the mirror alignment with GlueX data (eg. Ks -> 2pi decays) and this will be included in the TDR when the study is finished.
    • Program Management (Justin)
      • Justin presented a preliminary draft and schedule under 2 or 3 year funding profiles based on the current cost estimates
      • Eugene commented that the 12 GeV contingency averaged 30%, with some up to 40-50%. He will provide some information on the contingency estimates and we can increase these for the support structure, transport, etc. without much of an impact on the TPC
      • Justin will consult with Patrizia when she's back from vacation about computing "burdened" cost estimates, and he will also need input on overhead from universities as well.

Action Items:

  1. Next week we will discuss the engineering requirements for the detector support structure (John F (IU) and Tim will hopefully be able to attend)
    • Some questions to be discussed:
      • Do we need to require that the bars can be "easily" moved out of the active area of the detector for other experiments (eg. PrimeX)?
      • What additional cost and risk are implied by such a design?
  2. Is there additional design work need before construction could begin? How much time/manpower is required for this (so it can be included in the schedule)?
    • Main detector support structure?
    • Shipping crate?
    • Expansion volume:
      • Final design for focusing optics box?
      • MaPMT/Electronics module structure and mounting on fused silica window
