Items for followup from previous meeting

  1. SiPMs
    • Clarify how the non-conforming SiPMs will be returned to Hamamatsu and replaced (Elton and Hayk) Non-conforming SiPMs will be shipped to JLab in the 370 package. JLab will exchange them for replacements.

Minutes

Attending: Will, Serguei (USM); Shaun, Zisis, Andrei (UofR); Elton, Beni, David (JLab)

  1. Announcements
  2. Review of Action Items
  3. Monitoring
  4. Status of testing at Regina PDE Geometrical Mean Results
    • Setup fixed and new measurements taken
    • Use the geometrical mean procedure. Most data taken at 23-23 deg C
    • Zisis: Inquired about availability of 16-channel electronics to check individual cell response in arrays. Elton suggested to investigate the suitability of Carl Zorn's setup and whether it might be available.
    • They would like to keep the sensors a couple of more weeks. We will revisit the assembly schedule early next week.
  5. Update from JLab
    • Installation of modules onto cradle in hall
    • Elton showed pictures of how the modules are coming together into the cradle assembly. The fit is very good. Congratulations to UofR/Ross machine shop and to Tom's crew for the assembly process.
    • Shaun is back at UofR. He will produce a ROOT script to process the cosmic-ray runs for tested modules.
  6. Update from USM
    • Serguei: Elton submitted an updated list of non-conforming light guides late last week. Guides are being machined based on this list. Jlab has also put in an order to request on more light guide set. Additionally the USM plan is to produce a few more sets to have in reserve.
    • The SiPM test setup is being dismantled to make way for a new micro-electronics laboratory. The boxes will be place in storage for future projects.
    • The milling machine and facility will continue with a pre-shower calorimeter project for BNL.
  7. Inventory of SiPMs
  8. Beam Tests, Cosmics
  9. Reconstruction and simulation
    • BCAL reconstruction test with pi0
    • Beni: Has investigated the KLOE/Matt algorithms and developed his own JLab version. This work will be shown on Thu at the Bcal reconstruction meeting. The comparison is a good basis for developing a working code for the experiment. So far only single photons and pi0s have been studied. The KLOE code shows a clear problem in our geometry in merging clusters of similar energies.
  10. Other
    • Elton raised the question about how to document the SiPM work in published NIM articles. Zisis: Draft paper based on Mernoosh's work has been started. USM: Drafts have been started as part of Orlando's thesis. They will discuss the question internally. Elton: Would like a summary paper for the experiment that includes a summary of all sensors used for GlueX.
