The cart has two separate hardware interlock systems and one software layer. The software layer should stop motion before the cart bumps into the low voltage interlock connected to the Joerger SMC24B motor controller. The SMC24B locks motion in the direction where an interlock is tripped until the error is cleared.

Interlock.jpg The AC interlock cuts power to the drive transformer and cannot be reset without someone physically going down and pushing a button. This layer is also used to disable the system to prevent anyone from moving it while people are working around the cart. Interlock inside.jpgThis interlock / motor power connection is wired as a appliance (it plugs into 110 VAC)and has two fuses inside the box. A one (1) amp fuse for the interlock loops and a ten (10) amp fuse for the motor transformer.

Interlock screw.jpgThe interlock box does have exposed wiring and requires a 3/8 wrench or socket to remove the screw that secures the front cover for access inside by a qualified individual.
