Minutes
Attending: Mark, Rory, Beni, Alex, Ilya
- Announcements
- JLab proceeding to Medcon5 on Monday
- Action Items
- Feedback from collaboration review
- Reinhard sent out an announcement to the collaboration to comment on the NPP draft. Comments expected back at the end of June and a vote will follow
- Theory update
- Ilya is in communication with Serguei who promises formulas updates soon.
- Collaboration draft
- Backgrounds
- BGGEN (PYTHIA)
- No results yet
- More realistic eta production?
- Broken Etas2 (Elton)
- A new event generator gen_EtaPb currently simulates the NC production of etas. They are decayed using geant4.
- Distributions from this generator were presented. They show that the theta_pipi scattering angle peaks at lower angles, beginning at the angle for NC pi0pi0 production.
- The normalization was investigated comparing results to Rory's discussion in the appendix draft.
- Elton will evaluate the normalization for both Primakoff and NC eta production for the next meeting
- BGGEN (PYTHIA)
- Experiment optimization
- Significance of experiment
- Analysis of PRIMEX data
- Backgrounds
- Other business
- Evaluation of eta backgrounds (Beni)
- Beni generated 100k eta's at 6 GeV and at zero angle.
- The etas were decayed to 3pi0 using hdgeant and reconstructed using standard analysis
- The distributions provide nice intuition as to how this background might contaminate our signal.
- A good rule-of-thumb is that 1/200 etas will reconstruct to a 2pi0 final state with energy or 6 GeV, i.e. look like our signal.
- Evaluation of eta backgrounds (Beni)
- Next meeting
- Friday June 12 at 10 am.
