Goals for Calorimetry Group

  1. Determine preliminary photon reconstruction efficiencies as a function of E, phi and theta in data and simulation with a point-to-point precision of at least 5%.
  2. Measure systematics of pi0/eta mass calibration as a function of detector position to a precision of at least 5 MeV.
  3. Demonstrate agreement of photon resolution between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.
  4. Demonstrate agreement of photon reconstruction efficiency between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.

Minutes

Attendees: Igal, Malte, Jon, Sasha, Mark, Eugene, Zisis and summer students William and Anthony

  1. Announcements: Malte spoke about the summer student program and the 3 students in Hall, who are presenting a poster/report this Friday at the atrium.
  2. Past Meeting Minutes: none to review.
  3. Review Action Items: pruned last time.
  4. Detectors
    1. FCAL/ECAL: Sasha spoke about the installation and specifically patch panels, VXS connections, LV distribution, and connecting dividers (from top to middle of detector). Tasks and access to the dark room will be shared between ECAL and FCAL2 activities. Hakob leaves in late August so there is a rush to complete many tasks.
    2. BCAL: no hardware update
  5. Calibration: Igal reported that the 1st GlueX data set will be processed by the end of the summer.
  6. Monitoring: no report
  7. Reconstruction: Zisis reported that he and Karthik worked with a summer student on the omega-pi efficiency tag and probe method. The student made a table of the good and failed fits, which Karthik and Zisis will review.
  8. Simulations: no report
  9. Any other business
    1. William (summer student) presented his work on examining the FCAL homegeneity using LED data.
    2. Anthony (summer student) presented his work on the radiation damage of FCAL blocks.
    3. Their code was uploaded to GitHub.
