Items for followup from previous meeting
-
Check arrival of Bcal section from Edmonton - Will to propose detailed plan for prototyping for feedback. Sketch of test setup could help visualization.
-
Elton to provide reference light guide geometry for GEANT3. -
Sasha will send a link to studies of energy deposition in the Bcal and present his work next time.See June 11, 2009 Calorimetry

Minutes
Attending: USM: Alam, Will, Eduardo,... JLab: Elton, Eugene, Beni, UofR: Zisis, Andrei, George?
- Announcements
- Review of Action Items
- All completed except for one item.
- Zisis has found a way to ship a Bcal section to Chile, and they will ship COD.
- USM report
- Eduardo: Compiling report based on other documents. The report is on their internal wiki, and a link to the GlueX wiki will be made.
- Discussion of readout options
- Budgets - no update. Elton will be working on this over the next week.
- DRAFT Specifications for SiPM Readout Electronics. Fernando has provided this to Hamamatsu and SensL. We haver received some clarification questions, but otherwise they do not have any major concerns.
- FM light guides (See GlueX-doc-1287)
- Elton has summarized based work reported last week into a a draft document GlueX-doc-1287 on the portal.
- Two extreme lengths were simulated (outer top) and (bottom inner) for the upstream and downstream Bcal locations.
- The calculated light guide efficiency for the inner segment is about 30%, which is to be compared to 80% for SiPMs.
- Andrei: Backgrounds due to Cerenkov production in the light guides needs to be considered.
- Will: back of the envelop estimates should be able to evaluate the level at which these backgrounds contribute.
- Will: Cerenkov backgrounds interfered with calibration proceedures in CLAS and should be checked in this case.
- Elton, Sasha will discuss priorities and resources for simulation with Matt Shepherd tomorrow afternoon.
- Mechanical keep-out zones
- Timeline for review - Reviewer Stefano Miscetti (tentative July 21)
- Prototyping
- Simulations
- Andrei and Irina have completed simulation files for 40, 100, 200,400, 600, 1000 MeV showers and generated n-tuples. The files are available at /group/halld/Users/semenov/fluka. Feedback on their usefulness is requested. Andrei will send out a short note to the listserver describing the files and variables.
- Discussions on MOU with USM
- These details will be left to offline discussion.
