FCAL-II update: status and plans
Minutes
Attendees: Josh, Liping, Sascha, Simon, Zisis
- Josh has assembled one full prototype module, plan is to build ~10 more
- No issues so far with brazing or tension
- Waiting for soft-iron shields: 1020 steel, Tim will anneal
- Waiting for light guide material to test with silicone cookies
- Tim found 18 mm diameter acryllic rods
- Plan to attach light guides to tubes with RTV
- Design for box/frame for beam tests (12 modues at a time) ~ready
- Will be able to accommodate different light guides
- Need to order HV/signal cables for beam tests (Fernando)
- Vlad Popov has been working on fine-tuning active base design
- Stabilization of last dynode: use FET?
- Add low-pass filter?
- Would like 2-3 different versions to check before November run
- We discussed space considerations: need a relatively clean area but not a full "clean room"
- Space in TEDF has been identified, would like lock -- fenced off area?
- 3 heavy duty shelves
- Manpower: getting someone from Russia to help out even through U. Regina will be tricky
- JLab detector support group can help out
- Yerphi researcher (Arshak?) is interested in participating, will come for 3 months, possibly up to 6 months
- Anatoly (who worked on Primex crystal assembly) is retired but wants to participate -- affiliate with UNCW?
- CMU can do some fabrication, has machine shop
- Need to identify work coordinator
- Frame/assembly of FCAL-II in design stage
- Some details need to be worked out in more detail: Light monitoring system, tungsten absorber in inner region, cooling system
