Agenda
- SICCAS crystals
- COMCAL tests, TAC running, etc.
- Data analysis
- Simulations
- FCAL-II simulation/reconstruction with Island island update File:Jef feb05.pdf
Minutes
Attendees: Jane,Arshak,Sasha,Igal,Tim B.,Zisis,Jared,Jon,Azizah,Susan,Liping,Phil,Bill B.,S.T.
- Jane and Sasha have tried contacting our contact at SICCAS with no success
- Try to get JLab procurement involved?
- Sasha performing linearity tests of PMT dividers with amplifiers
- Use pulse shaper to inject charge, record wave forms
- Shape deformation causing problems
- Quality problems with amplifier prototypes? Only one working divider
- Still making plans to send to Zisis -- drop ship?
- Also could consider Protvino design with booster HV
- Also could consider reducing number of stages in PMT
- Refurbishment of COMCAL light monitoring system (LMS)
- Now using wider-diameter (1mm) fibers -- Josh is polishing ends
- Plan to compare light yield to older design with smaller diameter fibers
- NPS collaborator did radiation hardness study of crystals using a medical source
- 100 kRad -> 3/10 crystals turned brown
- Expected dose for JEF is much smaller
- Liping reported that there is some motion at the Chinese Modern Physics Institue toward building a facility like REDTOP
- 2 GeV proton machine
- Potential collaborators?
- S.T. presented an update on implementation of Island algorithm for FCAL-II
- After correcting for position bias, new algorithm can achieve improved angular resolution relative to other techniques
- Correction for position bias gets worse the further away the cluster is from the beam line
- Average number of clusters found for η→π0γγ and 3π0 increased as expected compared to default algorithm
- Still need to guard against too many false splits
