Minutes

Present:

  • Switzerland: Beni Zihlmann
  • USA: Chuck Hutton, Mark Ito (chair), Elton Smith

PMT Purchase

We discussed the options, some old, some new:

  • All 10-stage tubes, no amplifiers
  • Some 8-stage tubes on the high-rate counters with external amplifiers
  • All 10-stage tubes with external amplifiers for counters whose gain starts to sag

We need more information on how the 8-stage tubes perform in the FSU test set-up.

Mechanical Design

Chuck is still considering the TOF-door option as a way to ensure access to tubes that may have to be changed. In any case the current plan is to allow then entire array to be assembled on the floor horizontally and then craned into place.

Chuck is still waiting for information on the latest light-guide design for the half-width counters.
