Elliott, Chris, Dave A and Walt Akers will meet later this week to reevaluate UPS requirements for the counting house.  The goal is to have the UPS installed right after the counting house becomes available, as the UPS is the largest "customer installed" item.  The goal is to have it delivered by late summer, when we think we will get access to the building.

At the previous meeting Eugene asked us to define all the tasks in the P3E schedule and develop sub-tasks that can be tracked and reported back to the 12GeV project.  About a week later Dave, Hovanes and Elliott had written a paragraph or two for each P3E item (can be found on the Online wiki home page).  During the following week we developed an Excel spreadsheet that listed each task and its sub-tasks (stored in svn, not quite finished yet).  We also created a Mantis project suitable for listing real world tasks ("boots on the ground" tasks) and correlating them back to the Excel spreadsheet.  The goal for the upcoming week is to generate real world tasks in Mantis that the DAQ group will work on.  Recall that the DAQ group will charge back to the Hall D budget for these (and only these!) tasks.

'''Coil Test'''

Elliott reported that a new VME-based fast DAQ system will replace the Labview system as the latter had problems at higher rates.  Eugene is supplying the CPU and DAQ board, Jonathan found us a mini-crate, and Elliott has a host computer.  The DAQ board comes with software from Hall A.  With luck the software will be suitable for use in the coil test, but likely will need some modification.  Also:

Counting house UPS

Elliott, Chris, Dave A and Walt Akers will meet later this week to reevaluate UPS requirements for the counting house. The goal is to have the UPS installed right after the counting house becomes available, as the UPS is the largest "customer installed" item. The goal is to have it delivered by late summer, when we think we will get access to the building.

P3E sub-tasks

Coil Test

Elliott reported that a new VME-based fast DAQ system will replace the Labview system as the latter had problems at higher rates. Eugene is supplying the CPU and DAQ board, Jonathan found us a mini-crate, and Elliott has a host computer. The DAQ board comes with software from Hall A. With luck the software will be suitable for use in the coil test, but likely will need some modification. Also:

  • Mechanical installation is going well.
  • Coil 3 is installed in the yoke.
  • Coil 3 developed a short when it was turned upright. It was burned out to 350 V, which was deemed good enough for the test.
  • The MIS group is working again on getting IRMIS installed so we can test it. Problem is due to use of Glassfish by IRMIS developers but JBoss by JLab.

Tests

  • Multi-crate trigger test being installed. Most modules won't be available until May.
  • UConn tests going well, will end tomorrow. Lots of data taken for tagger microscope test and for active collimator test.
  • The FDC test will use the new CODA3 package. First full set of CODA3 prototypes will be available in late summer. We will start testing them immediately after.

CAN control

  • Athens calibration system will NOT use CAN, it was recently simplified considerably and CAN is not needed.
  • FCAL system has about 3000 CAN channels (bases) on about 30 CAN buses. We need to learn how to interface the Anagate Ethernet/CAN gateway to EPICS. Thus we need to purchase an Anagate device and get a few bases from IU and begin testing in the controls test stand (which should get going in the next month or so, waiting for Fernando to allocate space in EEL 126).

Raw event format

  • Goal is to have simulated raw data by summer.
  • Carl generated good documentation of the event builder output format, almost complete.
  • Where to do disentangling of events?
  • Carl reported on EMU improvements and will develop example disentangler.

Event display

  • Andrew and Victor (CNU students) are coming back on board to work on this.
  • Dave Heddle will make the graphics framework compatible with the CLAS12 SOA system, which we likely will use.
  • Elliott updated DANAEVIO to account for changes in the data model. Needs to add a few new banks. N.b. DANAEVIO output is the input to the event display.

Other electronics

  • Beni reported that a translator boards need to be designed for the FDC for use in the hall, but that he has what he needs for the FDC test.
