- Present - Eugene Chudakov, Hovanes Egiyan, Moskov Amaryan, Stephanie Worthington, Keith Harding, Igor Strakovsky, Desiree Ahrens, Tim Whitlatch
Agenda
- Minutes from last meeting https:
- Previous Conceptual Design
- Requirements:
- Collimator cave
Minutes and Action Items
- Everyone introduced themselves.
- Igor and and Eugene briefly presented the problem of what needs to be done for the kaon production target (KPT).
- Igor went through his slides to describe the KPT conceptual design.
- Eugene had a few questions and comments.
- It would be helpful to have a single document, relatively brief, showing all the relevant for designers KPT dimensions.
- It was agreed that Tim, Stephanie and Keith will draw their own sketch based on Igor's presentations, and will request the missing numbers.
- Would it be helpful to have a beam pipe (steel) before the tungsten plug?
- This has not been considered yet.
- How do we hold the beryllium target in front of the tungsten plug?
- Attaching it to the plug means that it will get heated by the plug.
- One may consider a small gap between the target and W-plug and relay on the air convection.
- Either way, one needs to estimate the temperature of the beryllium.
- Igor would like to know what options there are for which one may perform simulations.
- Eugene would like the KLF collaboration to produce a heat depositions profile versus z for the lead, beryllium and the tungsten plug.
- Moskov agreed.
- Currently Igor's program does not do that.
- It would be helpful to have a single document, relatively brief, showing all the relevant for designers KPT dimensions.
- Hovanes asked Tim if it would be easier to have a rectangular design for the KPT shielding rather than a barrel shape.
- Eugene thinks it can be some kind of combination to simplify the mechanical design and to reduce the amount of lead used.
- Tim has been thinking about it, but so far has no preference.
- We agreed to meet every two weeks at the same time, until further notice.
Action Items
- Go over the existing sketch and identify missing dimensions (designers and Igor).
- Determine the heat deposition profile (KLF).
- Options for holding the Be target in place. (designers)
- Shape of the KPT shielding: barrel vs rectangular. (designers)
