Goals for Calorimetry Group

  1. Determine preliminary photon reconstruction efficiencies as a function of E, phi and theta in data and simulation with a point-to-point precision of at least 5%.
  2. Measure systematics of pi0/eta mass calibration as a function of detector position to a precision of at least 5 MeV.
  3. Demonstrate agreement of photon resolution between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.
  4. Demonstrate agreement of photon reconstruction efficiency between data and simulation as a function of E, phi and theta to within 5%.

Minutes

Attendees: Mark, Elton, Jon, Varun, Sean, Zisis

  1. Announcements: none.
  2. Past Meeting Minutes. Zisis summarized them.
  3. Review Action Items: Zisis emailed Matt to get updates on short and long term tasks associated with FCAL, so that Mark and Zisis can organize those lists. Sean was cc-ed.
  4. Run Operations: nominal, with the usual maintenance items.
    1. FCAL: Occasional locks ups, sometimes handled up to a day later. Base change out.
    2. BCAL: Baseline stability/ hot channels. Pulser stops changing side: Mark will investigate spying on trigger bits. Elton mentioned that Beni has a script that runs on raw files.
    3. CCAL: no report.
  5. Calibration: Elton asked about the CPP calibrations. Karthik does the CPP-BCAL and Igal the CPP-FCAL. Re FCAL2 (Igal) method): Mark mentioned that the gains are the same, with some difference in the non-linearity correction. Sean is waiting for Naomi to finish before doing a monitoring launch. Then Mark can do his stuff.

    1. Mark gave an update on FCAL2 work. Using the inventory databases, he made a log entry (e-Log 4055449), in order to have a starting game plan for FCAL2 (unknown: wrapping condition of blocks.). From the table on this blog entry: 187 removed, 206 keep base and not PMT, 1018 good PMT+base and use around insert, 1389 use outside the 1018. Some of the 206 bases will go to replace some of the 1389 ones. Critical storage of bases: hope is to build up 20 spares. FCAL will be stress tested at the end of the run before Xmas, and replacements will be made early in the new year.
