Review of minutes from the last Meeting

We went over the minutes from March 10. We focused on the long-standing issue with timing from calorimeter for charged hadrons, in particular the two types of studies we agreed on, to repeat:

  1. Richard will do particle studies to understand the differences between G3 and G4, especially for charged hadrons in the BCAL.
  2. Alex and Colin will try to isolate single particles in their exclusive events and look at calorimeter timing response for hadrons. Hopefully this can be done without tight cuts on the particle of interest. Also they will try to simulate the same reactions and repeat the studies with both G3 and G4. We will ask Nilanga to do a similar study with his backward kaons.

There was no progress to report, but we agreed that these are still things that we want to pursue.

Issues on GitHub

We went over some of the issues.

Igal lead us through Issue 146, Discrepancy in the gamma gamma invariant mass distribution between Geant3 and Geant4. He had noticed differences between π0 peak position in γγ invariant mass distributions between G3 and G4. The issue turns out to be related to Issue 113, Overall BCAL energy shift? that Mark Dalton opened back in June of last year. Richard adjusted the hard-coded energy re-scale factors for BCAL and FCAL (Pull requests #147 and #148) and now Igal's plots are in good agreement, G3-versus-G4-wise.

Igal closed both Issues 113 and 146.
