* They are in communication with Eljen about the remaining scintillators. Eljen is asking if we can get by with about a dozen of the long bars which are short by 1/8 inch.

* We discussed whether the design of the support structure can accommodate shorter bars and we felt that it could. If there are surprises we could manufacture special lightguides, 1/16 inch longer to compensate.

* We decided to accept the short modules from Eljen.

Construction Status

ESR material

FSU has received a roll of ESR material, not the standard 3×2 foot sheets, but in a roll 8 inches × 1000 feet. Originally the product came with an adhesive, but that is not present on the roll. This will reduce the thickness of material between counters. The ESR thickness is about 2 mils.

Light Guide Manufacturing

Light guide status:

  • 90% partially milled
  • 25% fully milled
  • 10% polished

It should take about another month for machining of all the light guides. Next week FSU will assemble the mini-TOF using the first-article modules.

Scintillator Purchase

  • FSU has received all the scintillator in the first-article batch, six modules.
  • They are in communication with Eljen about the remaining scintillators. Eljen is asking if we can get by with about a dozen of the long bars which are short by 1/8 inch.
  • We discussed whether the design of the support structure can accommodate shorter bars and we felt that it could. If there are surprises we could manufacture special lightguides, 1/16 inch longer to compensate.
  • We decided to accept the short modules from Eljen.

Mini-TOF Construction

Construction should begin next week. By the next meeting have Paul will have photos of the structure. The support structure is done. Assembly will be done on sawhorses. The modules will then be mounted on a rotating support stand.

PMT Testing

  • Yesterday FSU received the final shipment of PMTs from Hamamatsu.
  • The test computer died, but was revived yesterday.
  • Status of tests:
    1. LED illumination to measure gains
    2. "Americium source" (100 PMTs done)
    3. "Cesium-iodide source" with spectrum analyzer (60 PMTs done)
    4. noise measurements (not started)
  • FSU received CAEN HV module loaned from JLab.

Contract

We will aim for a readiness review at the end of February, after the collaboration meeting. It was suggested that during the review that we have a session of procurement folks from JLab and FSU to discuss details of invoicing and payment.

We need a way to map into the EVMS system. Beni will show Mark how it was done for the CDC from Carnegie Mellon.

Calibration and Alignment

The GlueX is note still in the works.

TDR

The TDR section on the time-of-flight is on hold for now. Paul has been concentrating on getting the construction going.
