Design Considerations

Magnetic Shielding

PMT R4125: OD 18.6±0.7mm, photocathode ∅>15mm, full length 101±2mm

Parts for prototyping:

  • Draft 1
    • Iron housing: AISI-1010 20.5x20.5x140mm^3, a hole ∅=20.2mm
    • μ-metal: Co-netic cylinder 140mm long, 19.3mm ID, made of a 0.25-0.35mm foil
    • Light guide suggestion: acrylic cast rod 30mm long, available ∅0.625"=15.9mm ePlastic
  • Draft 2
    • Iron housing: AISI-1020 20.6x20.6x140mm^3, a hole ∅=20.2mm, annealed and painted, 9 pieces
    • μ-metal: Co-netic 2 cylinders 140mm long, the inner one 19.3mm ID, made of a 0.10mm foil, 3 0.025mm-thick Mylar separators
    • Light guide: see Draft 1
  • Draft 3
    • Iron housing: AISI-1020 20.6x20.6x104mm^3, a hole ∅=20.2mm, 9 pieces
    • Iron housing: AISI-1020 20.6x20.6x140mm^3, a hole ∅=20.2mm, 1 piece
    • μ-metal: Co-netic 2 cylinders 103mm long, the inner one 19.3mm ID, made of a 0.10mm foil, 3 0.025mm-thick Mylar separators
