Attending: Alex, Andrew, Beni, David L., Elton, Ilya, Mark, Naomi, Nikhil, Rory, Simon

  1. Previous CPP meeting: Jun 15, 2022
  2. Previous CPP Software meeting: Π polarizability Software Meeting May 5, 2022
  3. Announcements
    • This meeting followed an extended RC meeting for the current run.
  4. Action Items
  5. Spread Sheet with Run List (Albert)
    • List of production runs
    • Toy Study of Empty Target Statistics (Elton)
    • GlueX-doc-5445 Optimization of empty target running (Eugene)
    • The various approaches to estimate the optimal seem consistent.
    • Assuming that one runs at a relative intensity of empty/full ~ 2, we need to devote about ~15% of the time, collecting about 10% of events from the target region during empty target running. We decided that we should take a current scan with empty target to check rates in tagger and verify that trigger rates are acceptable.
    • We discussed how much amorphous radiator running we should take. The main argument for collecting amorphous running is to be able to normalize the coherent spectrum and check systematics of the polarization. Elton will send out an email to Hovanes, Mike Dugger and others to get feedback on how much data is needed. The present guess is about 5%(?)
  6. Software/Calibration, Simulations
    • (Alex for David) David has added features to hdview2, which allows us to display FMWPC and CTOF. A flag allows events to be displayed if a specific bank is identified, but running hdview2 without a bank skips all events, so the original default may need to be restored.
    • Alex showed some plots showing matching of tracks to FMWPC. There is very large amount of noise around the beam hole for the FMWPCs. Ilya has also done some analysis and cleaned up the spectrum of tracks matching FCAL blocks and some timing and pulse height cuts. He will pass these on to Alex to clean up the spectrum.
  7. Photon beam / tagger / diamonds
  8. DAQ and Electronic Setup (Sergey and Beni)
  9. CPP-NPP Trigger. We would like to implement the following additions to the trigger.
    • We requested the TOF trigger to >=2 hits (plane 1) AND >=2 (plane 2). Mark said that according to Sasha this is not possible with current firmware. Our configuration (>= 4 hits for both planes, and >=1 in each plane). Ilya estimates that this looser trigger adds about 10% to the rate.
    • Add a TOF trigger with >=3 hits for both planes. This new trigger would be used for systematic studies and would need to be prescaled by a factor of 10-20.
    • Double the prescale on the CTOF trigger (presently the prescale factor is 5, it would be increased to 10).
    • Ilya: Propose to increase the random trigger from 100 Hz to 1 kHz.
