AboutRecent budget constraints have motivated JLab to tighten its discretionary budget which had, until now (early 2012), been used to pay for refreshments at local meetings. Therefore, we have set up a mechanism to collect donations from collaborators into a fund that can be used to provide these refresments at coffee breaks etc.. The fund may also be used for related things such as initially stocking supplies for the counting house coffee/tea machine and dish soap, sponges, etc. for the kitchenette.
Who contributes and how much?Collaborators are asked to make a contribution for each collaboration meeting that they physically attend (those attending via video conference need not feel obliged). Students are also not asked to contribute. Contributions of $10 are suggested, but the exact amount is up to you. Receipts are available upon request for those wishing to seek reimbursement as part of their travel expenses.
How to contributeREAD CAREFULLY! Contributions to the refreshment fund are being collected in a special PayPal account set up for this purpose. You do not need to have a PayPal account to make a contribution, but the fund will be charged a fee of 2.9% + $0.30 for the credit card transaction if you'd don't do it through your account.
